I Grandi Dimenticati (2020)

I grandi dimenticati is a Rai documentary series (Rai Cultura, broadcast on Rai Storia) that brings back to light stories, places, and cultural heritage that have slipped to the margins of collective memory. Through a rigorous yet engaging narrative approach, the series weaves together historical reconstruction, testimonies, and visual exploration of its featured sites, offering a fresh perspective on architecture, artworks, and spaces shaped by time, neglect, or gradual oblivion. Each episode focuses on a different “forgotten” subject, using it as a lens through which to explore history and local identity, highlighting both the processes that led to its neglect and the enduring value it still holds.

The series is directed by the Roman YouTuber Cane Secco (real name Matteo Bruno), who signs for Rai Storia a run of episodes devoted to monuments scattered across the Belpaese—sites that are forgotten, little known, or in some cases entirely abandoned—restoring visibility to places that deserve to be seen and understood.

A distinctive element of the series is its musical score, which supports the storytelling not only atmospherically but also on a dramaturgical level. The music is produced by GAP MEDIA and written by Gian Luca Nigro, Giacomo Trovaioli, and Maurizio Loffredo, contributing rhythm and emotional depth to the images and voices, and reinforcing the overall sense of rediscovery that defines the project.
